Don Rogers

Don D. Rogers, 65, died Nov. 14, 2003, at his home in Marion.

Born Sept. 24, 1938, at Eureka, he was the son of Chester and Lillian (Moreland) Rogers.

In his childhood years, his family lived in a number of places, and he attended high school in El Dorado.

On Aug. 16, 1958, he married Cora Sandwell. The couple had four children.

Don was an oil field producer and traveled around the world in efforts to maximize oil producing efficiency.

He enjoyed his family and loved spending time with them. In later years, his hobbies included buckskinning and "mountain men rendezvous."

On July 22, 1985, he was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, where he was a member. He also was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Prairie Long Rifle Inc., and the Kansas Oil and Gas Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Cora; three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Cynthia Rogers of Florence, Mike and Janelle Rogers of Salina, and Corey and Shelia Rogers of Marion, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and George Luna of Marion; three brothers, Jim of Seiling, Okla., Kenneth of Farmington, N.M., and Bob of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Karen Starlin of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lincolnville, with the Rev. Alan Stahlecker officiating.

Janet Post sang "Wind Beneath My Wings."

Other music included "Abide with Me," "Oh That The Lord Would Guide My Ways," and "How Great Thou Art."

Carlene Sieverin was organist.

Casket bearers were Jeremy Rogers, Adam Rogers, Erik Rogers, Kyle Luna, Quin Rogers, Ross Stuchlik, and Tyson Anderson.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established in his name with St. John's Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, and Central Homecare and Hospice.
