Don't get left behind

Are you ready? Get set, go! 2004 is here, whether you are ready or not. I recently heard a woman speaker talking about the future. She said it will be an electronic world. She was a CEO of some huge company. She said businesses who do not jump on the band wagon will be left behind. Scary, isn't it? Much more difficult than when our forefathers gave up the horse and buggy and took on the automobile or when they deserted the train and took to the air. Well, they did it and so can we!

I was given a book of wise sayings by famous people. Very good. It was on aging. I saw one in the Presbyterian church bulletin that I thought was good: "Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others."

In a December issue of the Marion County Record there was an article about Mary Alice Parmley. She has just published a book of poems. She and her sister always were referred to as the "Rees twins." Her sister has done illustrations in her book. The little red-haired twins were quite a treasure in our little town. They have both been so faithful to care for their elder sister, Leta Rees, and still care for the family home. I'm anxious to see Mary Alice's book.

It is time to put those Christmas decorations away. That always seems sort of sad, like leaving a brightly lighted room and going into a dark one.

Come on, spring can't be too far away!
