Donations needed for annual Community Christmas project
Gift angels for Community Christmas are available from participating businesses.
Items indicated on the paper angels are gifts for children who might not have gifts at Christmas if it weren't for the generosity of Marion County residents.
Margo Yates, a member of the Community Christmas project committee and executive secretary of Marion Chamber of Commerce, said she anticipates the same number of families requesting assistance as last year.
Last year, 60 families received food baskets, and 50 families received food baskets and gifts donated from the angel trees.
Participating business are Casey's General Store (Marion), Central National Bank (Marion), Cottonwood Valley Bank (Florence), County Seat, Duckwall's, Kraft Korner, Marion National Bank, Pilsen State Bank (Lincolnville), Tampa State Bank (Marion and Tampa), and Wilbur's Market, formerly Florence Market (Florence).
Items must be delivered by Dec. 15 to Marion Chamber of Commerce office at 203 N. Third or Marion city offices at 208 E. Santa Fe. Items purchased at Duckwall's may be left at the store for delivery.
The gifts should be unwrapped with the angels taped to the items.
Cash donations also are appreciated.
Distribution of the gifts will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 22 in Marion City Building basement.
