Doris Cubbison
Doris J. Cubbison, 91, died Oct. 6, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Lynwood, Wash.
Born July 14, 1913, in Marion, she was the daughter of W.H. and Emma Thompson and was the last remaining member of that family.
Doris grew up in Marion, graduating from Marion High School in 1931. She received a degree in home economics from Kansas State College of Agriculture and Applied Science in 1935, and taught for a year in Viola.
On June 4, 1936, she was married at the family home in Marion to Gerald L. Cubbison of Ottawa. The Cubbison family lived in Tennessee and Texas.
Following her husband's retirement in 1976, the couple moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where he died in 1978.
Doris moved back to Houston, Texas, in 1980, to assist her son in caring for his daughter. In 1989, she moved to Lynnwood, Wash., and made her home with her daughter.
Throughout her life, she gave herself to activities that showed love, support, and involvement in the lives of her husband, children, and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Eural Thompson; and two sisters, Nina Thompson and Mercil Wight.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay Rogers of Lynnwood; two sons, Gary Cubbison and Greg Cubbison of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a niece, Joan Meyer of Marion.
