Double ring ceremony unites L. Wedel, M. Sandbo
Laura Lynn Wedel and Matthew John Sandbo were united in marriage at 3 p.m. Oct. 16, 2004, at St. Joseph Church in McPherson. Father Paul Oborny officiated during the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Linda Wedel of Canton and the granddaugher of Lorraine Havlik of Marion and the late Frank Havlik, and Irby Wedel of Canton and the late Lucille Wedel.
The groom is the son of Gary and Suzanne Sandbo of Lindsborg. He is the grandson of Dorothy Cain and the late Jim Cain, Bernice and Mervin Mose, and Julius Sandbo.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a one-piece strapless gown of ivory satin. The dress featured an asymmetrical waist and corset back and was embellished with bright beads in a band at the top of the dress and down the side of the skirt.
The bride's sisters, Koren Wedel and Emily Allen, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Amber Cooley of Olathe and Elizabeth Tate of McPherson.
Nick Sandbo, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Mark Sanbo, brother of the groom, Nicholas Wedel, brother of the bride, and Jerry Barta.
Ushers were Allen Johnson, Brandon Nelson, Barry Magnusen, and Brad Malm.
Kassidy Griffin, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Zac Sangles, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
The bride is a graduate of Kansas State University with a master's degree in communication science and disorders. She is employed with Southwest Area Cooperative in
Dodge City and Meade schools as a speech pathologist.
The groom is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in education. He is employed as a teacher and coach at Southwestern High School in Plains. The couple is at home in Meade.
A rehearsal dinner was held Oct. 15 at the Red Coach Courtyard with members of the wedding party and out-of-state family members attending.
