Dr. Donald Joy to speak at three-day seminar
Dr. Donald Joy will conduct a three-day seminar March 21-23 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.
Events will feature a Friday night banquet for adults.
Three events are planned for Saturday: a breakfast for boys and men, a late morning and noon luncheon where Dr. Joy will speak to girls and women, and in the evening a pizza supper is planned for teens, parents, and mentors.
During the Sunday morning worship hour Dr. Joy will preach a sermon, "God's Never Ending Love Story." Following the worship hour will be a wrap-up time with the subject, "Risk Proofing Your Family Today."
Joy has earned a Ph.D. from Indiana University, a M.A. from Southern Methodist University, and a B. Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary, as well as undergraduate degrees.
He is an ordained minister in the Free Methodist Church. Since 1971 he has been Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary, and is currently in doctoral teaching only.
Professor Joy has written 18 books. He has appeared several times on the Focus on the Family radio show. He was a resource person for the Pentagon and Capitol Hill special events focused on men's and women's issues and sexuality, 1994; was consultant for the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, Washington, D.C., 1986; and was director, The Kentucky Humanities Council, 1978-82.
