Earl Remmers

Earl Emil Remmers, 81, died Sept. 6, 2002, at Newton Medical Center.

Born June 26, 1921, near Marion, he was the son of the late Emil and Bertha (Lespagnard) Remmers.

A retired farmer, he grew up in rural Chase and Marion counties attending rural school near Cedar Point.

He was married to Alta Stamp in 1941. The couple had five boys and one daughter.

In addition to farming, he worked for Boeing Wichita for 15 years.

Survivors include sons, Alvin and Duane of Davis, Calif., Warren of Wichita, Kenneth and Eugene of Ramona; daughter, Lois Hayes of Lincolnville; sister, Margaret Hale of Kansas City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Julius.

Services were held today (Wednesday) at Zeiner Funeral Home, Florence, with burial in Cedar Point Cemetery. The Rev. George Lespagnard officiated.

A memorial fund has established in his name with the American Cancer Society.
