Ed Broz

Edward J. Broz Jr., 80, died Jan. 26, 2002, at Marion Manor in Marion.

He was born July 1, 1921, near Pilsen, the son of Edward J. And Emma Katherine (Dvorak) Broz. He was raised in the Czech community.

He served his country as a member of the United States Army in World War II from 1942 to 1946.

He settled in the Marion County area and became a well known farmer and stockman. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the VFW. He also served as a Marion County Commissioner.

He is survived by his companion, Jo Elling of Marion; one sister, Emma Momper and husband, Jim, of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Rosary was recited Monday evening at the Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion, led by George Waner. The funeral Mass was Tuesday morning at the Holy Family Parish, St. Mark Catholic Church in Marion, with burial at Pilsen.

Fr. Steve Gronert was the celebrant of the Mass of the Resurrection. Matt Classen served as the lector.

Casket bearers were James Momper, Anthony Joseph Momper, Patrick Broz, Mark Broz, and Mark Tajchman. Organ music was provided by Charlene Svitak and the vocalist was Madonna Schafers.

Military rites were presented by Ecker-Fulkerson-Slifer Post #6958 of Marion.

A memorial fund has been established with the VFW in Marion.
