Ediger recognized for service

Rebecca Ediger, deputy special agent in charge (DSAIC) of the Presidential Protective Division, U.S. Secret Service, received the Distinguished Service Award Dec. 13, 2001, from the executive office of the president.

Members of the senior staff at the White House presented a certificate and gold medal to her in a ceremony on behalf of the president.

Ediger, an agent for 18 years, was promoted to DSAIC of PPD on Jan. 21, 2001, to head White House security.

Ediger attributes the recognition to the efforts of a dedicated and well-trained staff of officer and agents.

On Dec. 14, 2001, Brian Stafford, director of the Secret Service, announced Ediger's promotion to deputy assistant director for the office of Protective Research, effective March 10, 2002. As DAD of protective research, she also will assume the title of chief information officer for the Secret Service.

Ediger is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Ediger of rural Newton, and a graduate of Peabody High School and Wichita State University. She formerly was a physician's assistant in Marion.
