Edna Domke
Edna Domke, 83, died April 4, 2004, on her grandson Nicolas' 22nd birthday.
Born Nov. 20, 1920, in rural Dickinson County, she was the daughter of Herman and Marie (Mueller) Bentz.
She married Fred Domke in 1941. The couple had three children. She worked before and after her marriage in various places in Marion. She was best known as a waitress where she was noted for her friendliness to customers.
She had a life-long desire for knowledge and continually read newspapers and watched the news to be well-informed.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where she was active in Dorcas Society and helped with vacation Bible school.
As a grandmother, she loved attending activities for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren in their homes, where she enjoyed family camping trips to the mountains in Colorado and trips to the beach in California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 1981.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Alice Domke of Camarillo, Calif., and Kerry and Judy Domke of Lenexa; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jay Erickson of Lakewood, Colo.; two brothers, Ted Bentz of Stover, Mo., and Clinton Bentz of Hutchinson; a sister, Ellen Alvarez of Abilene; four grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. April 7 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. Alan Stahlecker officiating.
Casket bearers were Todd Domke, Eathan Domke, Nicolas Domke, and Mike Erickson.
Burial was in the North Tampa Cemetery, Tampa.
Memorial funds have been established with the church and the American Parkinson's Disease Association.
