Edna Mae DeBus

Edna Mae DeBus, 92, died Feb. 20, 2004, at Lutheran Home, Herington.

Born July 4, 1911, at Herington, she was the daughter of George A. and Pearl Mae (Stark) Taylor.

A life-long resident of Herington, she was a cashier at the First National Bank until she retired in 1976. She was a homemaker, worked as chief telephone operator at Herington Telephone Company, and was a bookkeeper for Fred Thompson and Fred Lee.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and the church circle, a life member of Esther Chapter #96, Order of Eastern Star, and member of Herington Lioness Club and the Herington Bridge Club.

She was married to Kenneth DeBus in Herington. He died in 1972. She also was preceded in death by a son, Ranson Debus in 1956, a brother, Harold Taylor, and her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Hanson of Burdick; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, with the Rev. Shawn Baird officiating, followed by the Eastern Star service.

Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
