Elmer Ettridge
Elmer A. Ettridge, 81, of Hope died June 28, 2002, at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.
Born Oct. 10, 1920, at Hope, he was the son of Anson E. and Marie (Altmann) Ettridge. He attended Hope schools and graduated from Hope High School in 1937. He also attended Wichita Business College.
On Nov. 20, 1947, he married Iva O. Obermeyer in Herington. She died March 15, 2000. He was a farmer and stockman and a veteran of World War II, serving in the army.
He attended Hope United Methodist Church, was a member of the American Legion Post in Hope, was a past director on the Co-op board, and served as sexton for the Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife and by two half brothers.
Survivors include daughters, Carole Spohn of Tampa and Kay Stanley of Minneapolis, two grandsons; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were held July 2 at First United Methodist Church in Hope with Pastor Bill Sexton officiating. Burial was at Pilgrim Home Cemetery in rural Hope, with military graveside honors.
Memorials have been established with Hope United Methodist Church, Parkside Homes, or Central Home Care and Hospice in Newton.
