Elsie Vainer
Elsie Vainer, 97, died Jan. 3, 2004, at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend.
Born Jan. 15, 1906, at Herington, she was the daughter of Jim and Marie (Kroupa) Krch.
She was a former Marion County resident, having lived most of her life in the Tampa and Pilsen communities. She had lived in Great Bend the past few years.
A homemaker, she was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. John Nep. Church at Pilsen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, who died in 1960; two brothers, William and Rudolph; and two sisters, Mary and Emma.
Survivors include a son, Jim of Great Bend; a daughter, Virginia Mary Means of Napa, Calif.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.
Mass was said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Parish, Pilsen, with Father Paul Oborny officiating.
Burial was in Pilsen Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University.
