Enrollment dips at Centre USD

Preliminary enrollment figures at Centre USD #397 reflect a drop of approximately 19 students from the previous year. The drop is a turnaround from 2005-06, when the district officially gained 26 students.
According to a report issued to the school board on Aug. 14, 93 had enrolled in K-4 and 179 in 5-12, for a total of 272. An additional 11 children are enrolled in the pre-K program.
The 2005-06 official enrollment in K-12 was 291. Full-time equivalency (FTE) in September 2005, was 282 compared to 266 this year. FTE determines the amount of state aid a district receives.
The board met for 10 minutes in executive session with the superintendent and board clerk to discuss employee-employer negotiations. No action was taken after the meeting re-opened.
The board employed Bud Peterson as driver's education instructor at $20 per hour for a class to be conducted in the summer of 2007.
Instructor Greg Wyatt was employed as golf coach and instructor Karen Nickel as assistant high school volleyball coach.
A $1,500 contract with Tremco. Inc. was approved for quarterly inspections of district building roofs, effective Oct. l, through Sept. 30, 2007.
