Erma Agnes Cowan

Erma Agnes (Loney) Cowan, 82, a native of Marion, died Oct. 5, 2002, at Eufaula, Okla.

She was the daughter of the late James M. and Vashti Loney. She grew up in Marion and graduated from Marion High School.

She attended a government trade school, learning to be a welder. She worked at that trade in a defense plant at Wichita.

After her children were grown, she became a geriatric nursing attendant.

She was a member of the League of Women Voters, National Organization for Women, Beta Sigma Phi, Rebekah Lodge, and tutored English as a second language.

Preceded in death by her parents, her three siblings, and one daughter, Faith Hiebert, survivors include two sons, Sherman Kelsey of Augusta and Warren Heart of Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughter, Twyla Bullock of Lake Eufaula, Okla.; one stepdaughter, Patricia Consolver of Wichita; three grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 8 with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah, Okla.
