Esther Czarnowsky

Ester Czarnowsky, 92, died April 28, 2006, at Lutheran Care Home, Herington.

Born May 20, 1913, near the Shady Brook community north of Herington, she was the daughter of Albert and Ida (Will) Kandt.

On June 15, 1936, she married Lawrence Czarnowsky at Clay Center. He died in 2002.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Ellen Czarnowsky; brother, Arthur Kandt; two sisters, Irene Cox and Olga Burke; and her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Timm; two sons, Donald Czarnowsky of Sun City, Ariz., and Glen Czarnowsky of Lincolnville; three sisters, Eleanor DeVries and Viola Czarnowsky, both of Herington, and Agnes Tannahill of Wichita; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington, with the Rev. Troy Slater officiating.

Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.

Memorial funds have been established with the church, Lutheran Care Home, or Dickinson County Hospice.
