Eugene Ratzloff

Eugene Ratzloff, 81, died Oct. 20, 2006, at his home in Canton.

Born Dec. 6, 1924, at Moundridge, he was the son of Jonas and Katherine (Holdeman) Ratzloff.

Having lived in Canton most of his life, he was a retired welder and farmer and former owner of the Canton Dairy Bar. He also retired from Wal-Mart as a greeter.

On Sept. 23, 1945, he married Phyllis Jean Decker.

He was a member of the First Church of God, Hutchinson, and served in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gayland Ratzloff; two brothers, Rolan and John Adin Ratzloff; and a sister, Myrtle Fosnot.

Survivors include his wife, Jean of Canton; two sons, James Ratzloff of Denver, Colo., and Don Ratzloff of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Jeanie Scott of Fall River; two brothers, Thomas Ratzloff and Menford Ratzloff, both of Canton; a sister, Marjorie Unruh of Galva; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Canton Christian Church and at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Church of God, Hutchinson.

A memorial fund has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas.
