Evelyn Stage

Evelyn R. Stage, 87, died Jan. 5, 2003, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

Born Dec. 24, 1915, at Antelope, she was the daughter of John Henry and Lillian Pearl (Dody) Bredemeier.

On June 11, 1943, she married Orl L. Stage. The couple had three children, Jerald, Connie, and Lonney.

She was a lifelong resident of Marion County who worked as a telephone operator at Lost Springs in the late 1930s and early '40s. She later worked for Greenemeyer Bakery and Laidlaw Motel in Marion.

She was a member of the Valley United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary, Friendly Neighborhood Club in Antelope, and the Rebekahs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orl; her son, Lonney; two half-brothers, Archie Dody and William Bredemeier; a brother, Richard Bredemeier; and three sisters, Mabel Bredemeier, Ethel Hawthorne, and Elenor Bredemeier.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerald and Bonnie Stage of Olathe; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Lloyd Bevan of Augusta; brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Clara Bredemeier of Marion; a sister, Elsie Coleman of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 8 at Valley United Methodist Church. Janet Weathersbee officiated. Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Stacey Bevan, Todd Weakley, Cory Stage, David Kissee, Jim Dody, and Keith Dody.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
