Some of the farmers are combining milo in patches. Cutting off the ripe heads and leaving the green ones stand. Others are combining the whole field because they planted wheat in it. Women brought in their flowers. Irma Reznicek said she covered her tomato plants with a bedspread, but they still froze Sunday morning. I noticed the ground Sunday morning was so white.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik went Saturday evening to Haysville to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Harold and Georgene (Tajchman) Byram at St. Cecilia Parish School auditorium.
Sylvia Bezdek visited Oct. 19 with Irma and Bob Reznicek.
Douglas Strecker of Hesston was here Wednesday for dinner and supper. He planted wheat and mowed the lawn. He came back Thursday to help Larry Rudolph put the small bales in the barn. Larry was here Wednesday to rake the alfalfa and for meals.
Steve Katz, Overland Park, spent the weekend with his mother Adele Katz.
Kenny Stuchlik, Towanda, was a Wednesday night guest of his mother Frances Stuchlik. He was helping his brother Monty Stuchlik with field work.
Mervin and Leona Deines were Saturday supper guests of Fred and Adeline Warns.
Bob and Irma Reznicek joined other relatives and friends Sunday noon at St. Johns Catholic hall, Herington, to celebrate Bob and Carol Makovec's 40th wedding anniversary. The celebration was hosted by their children.
Leona Deines said their grandchildren will be going to Hope, Burdick, and Tampa for Halloween. Today the children have plastic bags and small buckets to gather treats. When I was young, a group of us would put the treats in our pockets. We would visit the homes of Ed Spencer, grocery man; the Rev. Hartman, minister of EUB Church; Mr. Baustian, drayman; and others in Lost Springs.
Clark Strecker and Laura Drebon of Rose Hill were my Sunday dinner guests. They came to help Michael Lafitte with a foundation. They said it didn't freeze in Rose Hill.
Josh Braden of Windom was the guest of his grandparents Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu from Friday night to Saturday evening. His mother Jennifer picked him up.
Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob and Jorge of Hillsboro were guests Saturday evening of Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu.
