Fern M. Carey
Fern M. Carey, 85, of Canton, died Jan. 5, 2006, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson.
Born Feb. 20, 1920, at Canton, she was the daughter of Dudley and Jesse Lee (Nickl) Keefer.
She graduated from Canton High School in 1940.
On Aug. 3, 1941, she married Clair H. Carey at Canton. He died in 1982.
She was retired from Canton school district, where she was head cook at Canton High School and assistant cook at Canton Elementary School for 30 years.
She was a member of Canton Christian Church, Canton Bunco Club, and Cottonwood EHU.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Belew.
Survivors include a son, Harold Carey of Canton; four daughters, Mariam Leffler, Rexann Rouse, and Dee Bair, all of Canton, and Linda Meier of Marion; sister, Marcella Haas of McPherson; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday morning at Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury, with the Rev. Jack Smith officiating.
A memorial fund has been established with Canton Christian Church.
