FFA chapter places sixth at dairy contest
Members of the Marion-Florence FFA Chapter placed sixth Feb. 5 at the South Central District FFA Dairy Foods contest at Inman.
Individually for Marion, Charlie Kenney placed in the top ten percent, and was only three points away from being one of the top ten individuals. Other Marion contestants included Josh Yerion, Leann Thomas, Molly Holub, and Haley Creamer.
Participants were required to evaluate samples of milk for off-flavor and score them, identify five cheeses, evaluate milker units for defects and cleanliness, conduct a California mastitis test, evaluate sediment strainers, and complete written tests about milk production and marketing.
