FFA members recognzied at annual banquet

The Marion/Florence FFA Chapter conducted its parent/member/employer banquet April 26 at the Marion High School commons area.

Members were recognized for activities during the year.

Chase Williams received the Chapter Star Farmer award and Danielle Cope won the Chapter star in Agriculture Placement award.

Sam Ehrlich was recognized as the Star Greenhand.

The chapter presented appreciation certificates to Straub International, Deer Trail Implement Inc., Robin Taylor, Sarah Cope, Kathy Ehrlich, Marion Cooperative Grain & Supply, Carlsons' Grocery, and Gambino's Pizza for their assistance to the chapter during the year.

Carly Whorton, current state FFA Sentinel, was the featured speaker for the evening.

The chapter presented a PowerPoint slide show of the year's highlights following the meal.

More than 120 members and guests attended the banquet.

Mark Kukuk placed first in the chapter sweepstakes. Sam Ehrlich was second and Mason Kukuk was third.

Ryan Jones was the recipient of the Greenhand record keeping award.

Chapter officers for the 2007-08 year were announced: Tacy Taylor, president; Hank Collett, vice president; Mark Kukuk, secretary; Sam Ehrlich, reporter; Charlie Holub, treasurer; Brad Klenda, sentinel; and Alan Overton, parliamentarian.

Chapter proficiency awards

Matt Kirkpatrick — Agriculture mechanics design and fabrication, placement division; diversified crop production, placement; and diversified agriculture production, placement.

Alan Overton — Grain production proficiency, placement.

Sam Ehrlich — Beef production, entrepreneurship.

Hank Collett — Poultry production, entrepreneurship.

Tacy Taylor — Sheep production, entrepreneurship.

Chase Williams — Specialty crop production, entrepreneurship; ag mechanics repair and maintenance, placement.

Danielle Cope — Forage production, placement.

Ryan Jones — Turfgrass management, entrepreneurship.

Mason Kukuk — Food science proficiency.

Jason Richmond — Vegetable production, entrepreneurship.
