Fish fry a success at senior center

By JANET BRYANT

Senior center reporter

What a fish fry we had Aug. 1! Close to 125 people rapidly ate up all the fish June Jost provided — and they were generous in their donations for the meal.

People certainly do read the menus in this newspaper. Last week, the actual meals were not as printed. If you came on Monday with your appetite whetted for lasagna, that's not what we had! The menus were correct at the time they were turned in to the newspaper, but had been changed in the meantime.

If you come to eat everyday, you're guaranteed to get something good and eventually even that entree you're especially wanting. Our number of diners is increasing and we're pleased.

The presentation Aug. 6 by Michel Soyez, Marion police chief, was enjoyed. He warned about scams and telemarketers. His concept of local policing, officers getting to know citizens, is a good one.

Also given last week was a presentation by Betty May and a Wichita representative of Life Line.

The summer sing-along has been changed to Friday, so if you read this, you still can make reservations for that day.

Senior Citizens' Day will be Aug. 20.

We're more like wilted senior citizens these hot days, but that sassiness is right there below the surface.
