Five county athletes invited to play in first all-star game
The first all-star game between the Mid-Central Activities Association League and the Heart of America League will be Friday at Hesston College.
Area coaches Tim Swartzendruber and Joel Kauffman came up with the idea of the game that will pit senior all-stars from the two leagues.
The girls' game will be at 6 p.m. at the Yost Center on Hesston College's campus and the boys' game will follow.
Toni Gordon and Allie Maddox of Marion High School will represent the girls' MCAA team.
Three boys from Marion County will represent two different boys' teams.
Kyle Kroeker and Wade Wiebert of Hillsboro High School will play for the MCAA team. Derek Benson of Peabody-Burns High School will play on the opposing HOA team.
Emilee Claassen of Berean Academy and Clarissa Coats and Michell Love of Remington also will play on the HOA girls' team.
Swartzendruber and Kauffman said they hope to turn this into an annual event.
Ticket are $5 for adults and $3 for students, and are available at the door.
