Former Green Beret to appear at CHS
Mark Johnson, a highly acclaimed motivational speaker and retired military officer from Kansas, will appear at Centre High School Tuesday to speak to students and staff.
He will give an hour-long presentation to high school students beginning at 9:10 a.m. and to fifth through eighth graders beginning at 10:20 a.m.
The public is welcome to attend the sessions.
Johnson is a retired lieutenant colonel who travels the world and speaks with passion about how to overcome adversity and become a successful leader.
He has extensive military experience, including 20 years as a Special Forces Green Beret operating in more than 50 nations on four continents. He was involved in the Gulf War, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq and is known as a master parachutist.
He retired from active duty in October 2000 but, since Sept 11, 2001, has played an important role in the war on terror. He assists and advises special operations forces throughout the Middle East and Asia.
Johnson served as chairman and professor of the Military Science Department at Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg. He lives at Eudora.
Johnson has authored a book titled, "How To Get Anyone to Follow You Anywhere."
