Four grapplers place in Herington tourney
MHS wrestlers
show 'great effort'
Judging by the number of individual placings in the Herington Tournament Friday, the Marion High School grapplers were back in the mood to wrestle.
The Warriors came home with two second place finishes, and two third place honors.
"It was a great effort," said Marion head coach Chad Adkins. "Our wrestlers are back. They did a lot better than they did right after Christmas."
Chris Freeby placed second in the 152-pound weight class.
In the 171-pound competition, Steven Boone, came home with second place. In the 103-pound category, Chelsea Arnold took third place.
Thad Looper came in third in the 189-pound competition.
"Our kids all did much better," Adkins said. "Thad Looper did really well, as did Steven and Chelsea.
"Chris lost to a top kid in the state who beat him in the finals," Adkins added. "This was one of the better tournaments we go to each year."
The Marion High School wrestlers travel to Halstead Friday and Saturday to compete in one of their biggest competitions of the year.
"They'll be somewhere between 18 and 20 teams there from a lot of big schools," Adkins said. "But according to how our kids did this past weekend, they should do pretty good."
