While serving as a KHP trooper he twice was assigned to Marion and at one time turned down an advancement in rank in order to remain in Marion. He was well known over a wide area, respected and highly regarded by all. It often was said he was highly regarded even while issuing a speeding ticket, because he was such a "nice guy."

The Boyles moved from Marion to Wichita following his retirement from the KHP, but they often returned to Marion to visit friends.

A memorial fund has been established in his name at the church.

Following the committal service in Marion Cemetery, coffee and cookies will be served to family and friends at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
