Frank Werner

Frank H. Werner, 85, of Marion, died March 24, 2006, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

Born March 10, 1921, at Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Charles and Katherine (Kruckemeyer) Werner.

He grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and joined the U.S. Army in 1942.

On April 27, 1946, he married Irene Kos at Brooklyn, N.Y., where the couple lived until moving in 1959 to Long Island, N.Y. They moved to Marion in 1974.

He worked as a truck driver for a lumber company in New York and after moving to Marion, worked as a welder at Excel Industries and a school bus driver for USD 408.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William and Charles.

Survivors include his wife, Irene of Marion; son, Frank W. of Marion; daughters, Janet and Phil Smith of Lincolnville and Kathryn Werner of New York; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at Zeiner Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Stahlecker officiating.

Burial was in Lincolnville Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with St. Luke Foundation.
