Free classes to assist parents with children
Parenting classes will begin Feb. 7, at Hillsboro Elementary School, 812 East A Street, Hillsboro, for county residents.
A series of three classes will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 7, Feb. 21, and March 7.
The classes are designed for parents of children ages 5 to 12 and cover topics of parenting styles, effective discipline, and defusing power struggles. Discussion, videos, PowerPoint presentations, and group sharing time will be parts of the class. Grandparents, foster parents, and child care providers are welcome to attend.
Mike Moran and Tonja Wienck will be facilitators.
Child care and pizza will be provided. Parents who attend the three sessions will be eligible to win a $25 Pizza Hut gift certificate.
