Friends honor Hensley Monday

Evelyn Hensley was honored with a farewell coffee Monday morning at St. John's Lutheran Church. Those present included Lola Teetzen, Maxine Mueller, Lucille Kerbs, Betty Mueller, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Lorraine Havlik, Lois Sklenar, Edna Mueller, Alma Meyer, Esther Klein, Frieda Bentz, Phyllis Mueller, Edna Backhus, Pastor Clark Davis, Elaine Backhus, and Jane Vajnar. Evelyn received a going away gift from the women of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and cards and gifts from other guests. She will be moving to Winfield this week.
Jerry and Jeanne Rziha are the proud grandparents of Peter Thomas Herron born March 17 (Aunt Janie's birthday) to Jim and Diane Herron of Wichita. Peter weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and measured 19 inches. He is welcomed by a brother, Andrew, 18 months. His paternal grandparents are Floyd and Kiel Herron of Wichita. Great-grandparents are Ralph and Bonnie Haslouer of Abilene and Gertrude Rziha of Great Bend. Andrew spent from Monday through Thursday of last week with Jerry, Jeanne, Cecilia, Julie, and Dana.
Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt visited Milda Krauter Sunday afternoon at Marion Manor. They also enjoyed seeing her other visitors, Jack and Sharon Grosse of Peabody. Later in the afternoon, they visited Lorraine Havlik and her guests, Laddie and Lu Havlik of Kanopolis.
Sunday evening visitors of Helen Schwartzman were Eleanor Murphy, Martha Melcher, and Sean Leihy.
Greg Sklenar of Wichita visited Lois Sklenar and Valerie Hampton on Sunday.
Tom and Dee Duggan and Kaylee Hall attended a dinner in Herington Sunday to benefit the teen roadhouse there. Deb Hall is a member of the board for the facility.
John and Pat Schwartzman of Salina spent Sunday with his mother, Helen Schwartzman. Carla Hajek and Amy were afternoon visitors.
Jerry and Jeanne Rziha took Dana Depo to Wichita Saturday where she boarded a plane for Vermont for a computer seminar for foreign exchange students. She was one of 31 students chosen from many applicants.
Lois Sklenar, Valerie Hampton, and Jane Vajnar accompanied Mary Clemmer to Emporia Saturday and enjoyed dinner together. They also visited Bob and Davee Dailey and some of their family who were at their home.
Paul and Edna Backhus visited Hugo and Naomi Wendt at Sterling House in Abilene Saturday evening.
Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki spent Saturday in Newton and went to a movie.
Tony Young of Goessel visited Lois Sklenar and Valerie Hampton Saturday morning.
Amanda Kleiber and Justin Martin were Friday afternoon visitors of Leona Kleiber. Other recent visitors of Leona were Terry Vinduska and Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Andrea.
Sunflower Senior Citizens were hosts for a meeting Friday of the Marion County Senior Citizens board at the senior center. The hall was decorated with a St. Patrick's Day theme. The hosts served coffee and rolls in the morning and lunch at noon.
Georgia Spohn met her cousin Lenora Graham of Florence in Hillsboro Thursday morning. They attended the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College and enjoyed lunch together. The program was on Mennonites returning to Ukraine.
Mildred Bernhardt of Lyons spent from Wednesday to Friday with Paul and Edna Backhus. Vic Backhus of Herington was an additional Thursday supper guests.
Sharon Schrag, Payden, Ross, and Lane of Lindsborg visited her parents, Gus and Mildred Hamm, on Thursday.
Nicholas Kleiber spent March 18 with his grandmother, Leona Kleiber. Amanda Kleiber was a morning visitor.
Mildred Hamm and Jan Vajnar were among those attending the meeting of King's Daughters March 18 at the Durham Baptist church. Muriel Christiansen presented a mission study about Mark and Wendy Kohman and family. Shirley Hamm led a lesson encouraging prayer for Muslim women around the world. Hostesses Kay Carlson and Kelly Bettles carried out a St. Patrick's Day theme with the refreshments, decorations, and favors. The meeting had been postponed from its regular time of the second Thursday of the month because of the state basketball tournament.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs flew to Tempe, Ariz., March 16 to join Virgil and Barb Gooding of El Dorado, Al and Lila Gooding, and Don and Cecile Penney of Topeka at the home of Elmer and Joyce Gooding. All spent several days visiting and sightseeing. Other frequent visitors were Shane and Carrie Faulkner, Clayton and Carsten of Gilbert, Ariz., Tom and Denise McClain and Shannon of Tempe, Glenn and Eloise Kerbs of Dodge City, and Reuben Kerbs of Wichita. Some of the group attended two baseball games between Wichita State University and Arizona State University in which Reuben II played. Reuben and Lucille returned home on Friday.
Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., arrived here March 17 en route home from a long vacation in the Southeast. They spent about a week visiting Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole.
Lola and Jack Ware of White City visited Art and Betty Mueller March 16. All enjoyed dinner out in celebration of the Wares' wedding anniversary.
Julie Rziha earned a blue ribbon March 16 on her demonstration at the regional 4-H Day in El Dorado.
