Gabe Dains
Walter L. "Gabe" Dains, 91, formerly of Florence, died Jan 11, 2002, at Vintage Manor, Emporia.
Born March 19, 1910, in Morris County, he was the son of the late Asa and Dora (Eldred) Dains.
He was a ranch hand who had worked in Morris, Marion, Lyon, and Chase counties.
He moved to Emporia, from Florence, in 1992.
His wife, Myrtle, preceded him in death. Others who preceded him in death included four brothers, Don, Dusty, Jess, and Wylie.
Survivors include sons Perry of Cottonwood Falls and Paul of Americus; daughters, June Cunningham of Americus and Joyce Helberg of Reading; a brother, Jack Dains of Heyburn, Idaho; a sister, Darlene Gaskell of Shoshown, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon at Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.
