Get fit, Marion

Folks in Marion and the surrounding area have a unique opportunity to participate in a diet and exercise program by signing up for the Healthy Fit Project.

The program needs at least 100 people in the Marion area who are interested in improving their health through diet and exercise. The project, which is funded by a grant, begins Dec. 1 and runs for 32 weeks, through July 31.

Participants will have help with meal plans from local dietitians and progress will be recorded on a weekly basis. They also will meet once a month with the project coordinator, Jan Moffitt. Participants also will be under a physician's care to authorize blood work and monitor weight loss.

For most, it's easier to diet and exercise with the support of a group. This project will test that theory as well.

It's a win-win situation. There is no charge to participate and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle will last far longer than 32 weeks. Registration closes Nov. 30. No one will be allowed to join the study after it begins. Sign up now to participate — you won't regret it.
