Gilbert Turk
Gilbert S. Turk, 77, died Nov. 30, 2005, at his home in Marion.
Born May 8, 1928, at Topeka, he was the son of Lawrence and Barbara (Brenner) Turk.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
On Feb. 27, 1954, he married Phyllis Allen at Topeka.
He was a body repairman in Topeka and Marion for several years before working at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita for 37 years, retiring in 1990.
He was an active member of Holy Family Parish, Marion County.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Francis.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Marion; five sons, Brad and Luretta Turk of Marion, Gary and Donita Turk of Baldwin City, Tony and Jane Turk of St. Louis, Bill and Leslie Turk of Newton, and Shane Turk of Hesston; one daughter, Teresa Parrish of Iola; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The rosary was recited Friday evening at Holy Family Parish, Marion.
A Mass of Christian Burial was said Saturday morning at Holy Family Parish, Pilsen.
Father Hien Nguyen was the celebrant and Father Nick Voelker was the concelebrant.
Mary Jirak was lector.
Danielle Turk was cantor.
Rose Davidson was organist.
Casket bearers were Adam Turk, Brian Turk, Jeffery Turk, Jared Turk, Ted Turk, and Matthew Turk.
Burial was in Marion Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with Holy Family Parish, Marion County.
