Great Durham team to remember glory days
Members of the undefeated state champion Durham High School basketball team of 1963 will meet for lunch and an afternoon of reliving their glory days Saturday.
The reunion will begin with an 11:30 a.m. lunch for team members and wives at the Main Street Café in Durham.
From 1 to 3 p.m., the public is invited to stop by and visit with the team and Coach Dennis Brunner at the Durham Community Center.
Steven Farney, author of "Title Towns! Class BB Boys Basketball Champions of Kansas, 1952-1968" will be there to talk about his book, which includes the story of the Durham team.
On Aug. 1, coach Brunner and the 1963 Durham High School team will be inducted into the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held in conjunction with the KBCA All-Star basketball games at Washburn University in Topeka.
It was incorrectly reported last week that the team had been selected for the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, in Wichita. The Kansas Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame is located at the Hutchinson Sports Arena, in Hutchinson.
