Gutsch's 41 points not enough years ago

Despite a record 41 points by Curtis Gutsch Friday in the Centre Cougars' contest at home with Solomon, their opponent won the game, 72-67.

The outcome was in doubt most of the game, as both teams fought vigorously for dominance and were almost equal in scoring until the fourth quarter.

Centre was ahead by two points, 20-18, at the end of the first quarter and ahead by one, 34-33, at the half. The score was tied, 55-55, at the end of the third quarter.

Solomon outscored Centre 17-12 during the fourth quarter, resulting in their five-point win.

Gutsch's 41 points included a record nine three-point goals, five two-point goals, and four out of five free throw attempts.

Other scorers were Travis Burns, 10; Aaron Barney, five; Todd Stahlecker, two; Derek Belton, six; and Justin Garrard, three.
