Hagans Library dedicated at K-State
The Hagans Library, in memory of former Marionite Frank Hagans, was dedicated in ceremonies held Friday and Saturday on the campus of Kansas State University, Manhattan.
It is located on the second floor of the new K-State Alumni Center.
A wide range of information on K-State and alumni is available.
Information is computerized for convenience.
There also is a collection of books by K-Staters, yearbooks, taped highlights of athletic events and videos.
The library was made possible by a gift from Bob Hagan, class of 1950, son of the late Frank Hagans and former chairman and chief executive officer of Unitog Co.
Bob Hagans received the Alumni Association's prestigious medallion for humanitarian service.
He also was national chairman of the Essential Edge campaign which raised $164 million for the university.
Hagans, who comes from a family of K-Staters, said he gave to the library to honor his parents, the late Frank and Velma (Morris) Hagans; and his sister Jean (Hagans) Case of Marion.
Frank Hagans served as Marion County Agricultural Extension Agent from 1930 until 1946. During that time he was chosen as the outstanding county agent in the nation at the national convention held in Chicago.
Jean Case attended the KSU Foundation board of directors meeting Friday. She and her daughter, Debbi Darrow, attended the banquet that evening followed by the Alumni Center Inaugural Celebration.
On Saturday Jean Case, Debbi and Bill Darrow, Diana and Chris Costello, and Casey and Nicki Case attended the Alumni Center program and ribbon cutting ceremony.
The group also attended the KSU football game that evening
