Hannafords, Thomases commemorate anniversaries

Marion Country Club was the site for a reception Sept. 24 commemorating the Golden Wedding anniversary of Bud and Lavonne Hannaford and the Silver Wedding anniversary of Mike and Gayle (Hannaford) Thomas.

Roger, Sally, and Jill Hannaford helped host the event along with Adam and Ryan Thomas.

Refreshments were catered by Country Dreams and the cakes were decorated by Wanda Richmond.

Bob Reinke was master-of-ceremonies and introduced participants. The Rev. Keith Allison presented appropriate thoughts and led in prayer. Max Merrill, Bud's best man, offered a toast to the honorees. Music was provided by Janet Post.

The Hannafords were married Sept. 20, 1953, in Peabody. The Thomases were married Sept. 23, 1978, in Marion.

Among the out-of-town visitors attending were Lavonne's sister Janet Parker from Atchison and her family, Todd Parker of Kansas City, Landon and Terri Parker of Woodland Park, Colo., and Karen, Lindsay, and Dana Piper of Leavenworth.

Bud's sister Mary and husband Bob Exline from Salina, and Kathy Nicholson of McPherson.

Warren and Phyllis Slocombe, Bill and Elaine Sears, Bob and Ilene Reinke, Max and Pat Merrill, John and Caroline Newcomer, Bob and June Kline, Jeff and Sarah Foster, Dan and Joyce Hannah, Dennis and Ardis Hanson, Pat and Janet Post, Bill and Georgia Higgins, and Jerry and Lu Harp.
