Harassment case is investigated by officers
Marion Police Officers investigated a juvenile harassment situation Saturday at Marion High School.
Nov. 14: A resident was advised about safety issues when non-usable appliances with doors intact are accessible to children. The fire department received assistance with traffic control at Fifth and Main streets.
Nov. 15: Lost property that had been abandoned at a local business was recovered. An officer responded to a business alarm that was tripped. A warning was issued to a driver for having an overweight vehicle on Eisenhower Drive. DRAGNET class was provided at Marion Elementary School.
Nov. 16: A resident was advised about an unregistered vehicle parked on a city street. Maintenance was performed on patrol cars.
Nov. 17: A vandalism was reported in the 300 block of South Lincoln Street.
Nov. 18: A sheriff's deputy received assistance with a suspicious person south of Marion. A report of a possible stalking and telephone harassment of a resident was taken.
Nov. 19: A warning citation was issued for an overweight vehicle on North Cedar Street. Two suspicious people were investigated in the 500 block of North Freeborn Street.
Nov. 20: A report of possible animal cruelty was investigated. A warning citation was issued for a truck parked on North First Street.
Officers drove 723 miles and issued three warning citations.
Nov. 21: A gas skip was investigated. Response was given to a business alarm that had been tripped; everything was OK. A trooper received assistance with a traffic stop on U.S.-56. A civil process paper was served. A harassment complaint was taken.
Tuesday: A lost motorist received assistance. An investigation continued on a harassment complaint. An officer presented a DRAGNET program at Marion Elementary School.
Wednesday: A civil process paper was served. A dog running at-large was picked up.
Thursday: A sheriff's deputy received assistance with a rollover accident. An investigation was conducted regarding a stalking complaint. A complaint was investigated regarding alcohol being furnished to minors.
Friday: A report of shoplifting was made by a local business; two juveniles were located; one was taken into custody, a second fled on foot; the fleeing juvenile was located and apprehended; the juveniles were cited for possession of tobacco products but the business refused to press shoplifting charges. Inspections of vehicle identification numbers were conducted. A stranded motorist received assistance. A civil standby on South First Street was provided.
Saturday: Two gas skips at Ampride were investigated. A case of a dog being mistreated was investigated. Drug paraphernalia was found and confiscated at a residence. Traffic control was provided for a LifeTeam transfer. Four warnings were issued for curfew violations. A parked vehicle on Main Street with its doors opened was checked; everything was OK. A report of suspicious activity was reported in the 700 block of North Cedar Street; was unable to locate.
Sunday: A report of gunshots were reported in the area of 1100 block of East Main Street; determined it was a vehicle backfiring. Officers performed a storm watch where several tornadoes were reported in the area.
Officers drove 872 miles, and issued two citations, four warning citations, and made two arrests.
