Hayen to celebrate 97th birthday at Youngtown home years ago

Dorothy Hayen will celebrate her 97th birthday Saturday. We congratulate her — she is a blessing to all. Ray and Jamie Helmer spent Saturday evening with John and Dorothy and watched a three-hour show they couldn't get on their television set.
Amber and Ashley Ratzloff had Sunday dinner with Marie Navrat.
Sarah Davidson brought home first and second place awards Saturday from the forensics meet at Peabody. Rachel Davidson and Christine Schwarz were at a forensics meet in Remington Saturday. Rachel earned a second place award and Christine earned a fourth place award. Rose Davidson judged forensics at Peabody all day Saturday.
Dwight Klaassen from Wisconsin was a visitor of Leonard and Rosalie Klassen on Thursday. Leonard and Rosalie attended the Promise Keepers dinner Sunday at Eastmoor.
Roy and Rose Olive Hett attended church at Eastmoor Sunday since we had a nice day. They enjoyed the Promise Keepers lunch at noon and stayed for the church conference meeting that followed.
Sunday was beautiful! I walked outdoors for about 30 minutes in the afternoon and enjoyed the sunshine after all the cold weather last week.
Beth and Howard Collett visited Bill and Georgia Higgins in El Dorado Sunday and got to visit with Karen Higgins Smith, who also was visiting there. Beth joined friends, Ramona Clanton, Virginia Bennett, and Rosie Livingtson, in El Dorado one day last week and they had lunch together at the antique mall in Benton.
Cy and L.Dena Goertz invited Shirley and David Bowers for Friday night supper in their home.
Edmund Steiner and Vicki Smolik attended the Catholic Workmen's breakfast Sunday morning in Pilsen. Vicki helped with the serving as she is a member of the group.
Richard and Patty McLinden hosted a birthday brunch for Lori McLinden Sunday morning. Guests were Chuck McLinden, Lauren and Jarret, Roseva McLinden, and Susie and Craig Morton, Regan and Jordan from Olathe.
Rhonny Bowers is a manager of the Marion High School wrestling team and spent Thursday and Friday nights in Hays at the state high school wrestling match.
Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Rhonny and Luke attended the reception Sunday afternoon hosted by Doug and Janelle Paden for the people who financially supported them while they were in Nepal. They served Nepal tea and ginger cookies to give their supporters a taste of Nepal food. Mary Beth said the tea doesn't taste like our American tea. Greg sang in a men's quartet at the Kiwanis sweetheart banquet Monday night at Eastmoor.
