Healthy Fit meeting is Tuesday

The Healthy Fit Project is off to a healthy start with more than 120 people from Marion and the Marion area expected to participate.

The first meeting, "Healthy Eating for the Holidays," will be presented at 7 p.m., Dec. 9 at the Marion Senior Center at 309 S. Third. Nancy Pihl, Marion County Extension Agent and Family and Consumer Sciences, will present the program.

Newsletters are being mailed to those who have signed up for the program with information about upcoming meetings.

Jan Moffit, program coordinator, is pleased with the response.

"You never know what the response is going to be when you initiate a program like this," said Moffitt. "It's been a great response."

The 32-week program will provide group support for those wanting to lose weight, become more physically fit, and maintain an overall healthy lifestyle.

Individuals with diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension are encouraged to participate.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. Dec. 5 for anyone in Marion and the surrounding areas. Contact Moffitt at 382-2177, ext. 198 anytime and leave a message or 382-5760 evenings.

The project is sponsored by St. Luke Hospital.
