Here's your chance

OK folks, if you always wanted to be involved in politics and help lead the city, here's your chance, your golden opportunity.

If you are disenchanted with the way Marion city government operates, you can do something about it.

Run for office. Marion City Council will have two vacancies come April — seats now held by Bill Holdeman and Jerry Kline.

Not sure you have what it takes? Read on.

Politics isn't for everybody. We don't need city council candidates who say one thing and do another. We don't need candidates with hidden agendas or private vendettas.

We do need candidates who are progressive thinkers. Candidates should be intelligent, fair, and honest; capable of listening to constituents and using the information to make solid decisions.

In addition, candidates should be thick-skinned, immune to criticism, and fearless in the face of controversy.

Above all, candidates should have a burning desire to see Marion prosper and have ideas on how to make that happen.

There are several people in Marion capable of providing the leadership the city needs. You know who you are. Why not step up and throw your hat in the ring?

The deadline to file for office is NOON TUESDAY with Marion City Clerk. The election is April 8.
