Hett brothers lease building on Main Street
Troy and Tony Hett have leased the former Becker Tire building at First and Main in Marion. The building is owned by Kevin Burkholder.
Troy will operate Hett's Repair out of part of the building, and Tony will use the remainder as headquarters for his company, Hett Equipment.
Tony buys, repairs, and sells utility equipment such as skid loaders. He occasionally does repair work for others.
Tony and his wife Misty live in Marion and have two children, Courtney, 6, and Kelsey, 1.
Hett's Repair will be open for business by Jan. 2. It will offer complete automotive repair including brakes, exhaust systems, engine overhaul, and transmissions.
"I'll be glad to try to help people when they have problems with their vehicles," Troy said.
Although he plans to focus on automotive repair, Troy said he will consider anything.
"There's no job too big or too small. People just need to come talk to me."
Troy said he plans to operate a clean shop and get jobs done on schedule. Normal working hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays but he will stay late if necessary to finish a job.
"I know how important a person's transportation is," he said.
Troy's grandfather, the late Leland Weber, was a mechanic at Hallett Quarries. Troy began doing mechanical work at a young age as he followed after his older brother Doug. He found that he enjoyed fixing things.
He spent three years at Marion High School. He said he got into trouble there and ended up going to Hillsboro his final year of school. He graduated in 1992.
He has been working at Svitak Machine at Lincolnville for the past six years.
"I owe a lot to Todd Svitak," he said. "He was an excellent teacher."
Troy and his wife Gina (pronounced "jenna") live about six miles south of Tampa and have two children: Tristen, 6, and Jace, 3.
"I'm excited about being here in town," he said. "I think it will be a good place to run a business."
