Hett, Carlson lead Warrior golf team
The talented tandem of Nickolas Hett and Nick Carlson has been fueling the Marion High School golf team with less than a week to go before regional play takes place Monday at Marion Country Club.
"Nick is getting better every day and he's getting more confident with each tournament," head coach Doug Dick said. "Nick Carlson also is playing well. The team is steadily getting better each day. They're working very hard because they know one of our biggest goals is very obtainable this year, going to state and competing for a state championship."
At the Marion County Invitational golf tournament, Hett finished 10th with a score of 158 over 36 holes, while Carlson finished 16th with a score of 163.
Athletes played 18 holes at both the Marion Country Club and at Hillsboro Municipal golf course for the 36-hole total.

Both players shot better scores on the back nine holes, where the tees are farther away.
Hett shot an 81, while Carlson shot 85. Joe Svitak finished 13th with 92.
"I can't say enough about how positive the team's attitude is and how much they're improving day-to-day," Dick said. "I am looking forward to our team competing in league and regional play."
The Warriors also finished fourth in 4-man competition with a score of 388.
