Holiday home tour is Sunday
The public is invited to tour three local homes Sunday, decorated for the Christmas season, as part of the annual Christmas Home Tours.
Homes to be featured on the tour are those of Tudy Brunner, 228 S. Lincoln; Craig and Diana Dodd, 115 N. Elm; and Doug and Pauline Sharp, 4 Fairway Drive.
Each home will offer holiday displays and personalized touches that make each home unique.
The Brunner home, built in the 1920s, recently was refurbished. There will be a collection of family favorites that include a bear tree. Festive decorations will include an outdoor deck and garden area.
The Dodd home was featured in last year's tour but will be different this year with rooms in the basement open for the tour. Built in 1902, the historic home will feature a tree in every room with casual elegant decor. Visitors are in for a few surprises.
Located in Country Club Heights, the Sharp home is the newest of the homes on the tour being built in 1995 with clear, cedar-siding. The stone used on the exterior of the home was hand-picked by Doug and his sons from the Marion area.
Pauline is a quarter Kaw Indian with a lineage of Indian leadership, so Native American decorations with traditional holiday fare will be displayed.
Tickets are $5 per person and may be purchased at Marion City Library or at the homes.
The library will host a holiday recipe sampling at the library during the home tours.
Proceeds will benefit the library.
