Hospital auxiliary to open store
Marion Kiwanians were told Monday noon that Marion County Hospital District Auxiliary will open a thrift store in downtown Marion.
Located in the former Masonic building, the ground floor store will be called "Stuff for Less."
Judy Reno, Marion, auxiliary president, reported that an open house will be announced later in the Marion County Record.
Items for sale will be donated, including small furniture, clothing, household items, gifts, handiwork, and books.
She said the store will be open early each week to receive donations and later in the week offering the items for sale.
All profits will go toward improving St. Luke Hospital. Reno said the hospital waiting room is now being extensively remodeled, a project of the auxiliary.
Since the auxiliary was founded in 1971 many thousands of dollars have been donated to the hospital for projects and scholarships.
Volunteers also are needed to build shelving, sort items, and to be sales clerks.
Donations of hanging racks, shelving, tables, or money to buy such items would be greatly appreciated, Reno said.
The auxiliary also needs $350 to buy liability insurance, in order to be fully covered. They also need a cash register, she said.
Reno may be reached by calling 382-8441.
