How would you handle it?
You're the editor of a community newspaper who is presented with a problem. Let's study the circumstances and ask "How would you handle it?"
A local resident receives an international award, one of stature representing a respected profession. The resident who received the award attended an international convention where the presentation was the highlight. Professional people were in attendance from several countries and the United States.
The local person who received the award was the subject of a coated stock magazine article which carried his photo, listed the accomplishments of his lifetime, and spoke in glowing terms about the local person.
Now. Here's the question and the problem. Question: How would you run that story in the local newspaper? Problem: The person is you?
The Ol' Editor is a bit skeptical to publish the story in detail (although he would if it were someone else). He recalls being upbraided in the past for publishing articles about himself, his son, or his grandson when they received significant honors.
So. What would you do?
(Look at pages of this issue to see how the OE handled the story, for at the time of this writing his decision was in limbo).
