I like happy endings!

I like happy endings, don't you? Norman, the lost Beagle, has been returned to his home in Kansas. His trip to Alabama wasn't quite as romantic as I imagined, just a long ride in a truck with some college boys.

If you have ridden around the Marion County Lake, you have seen the beautiful wild flowers blooming there. Then, too, the people who live out there have planted so many colorful flowers. I have always thought the soil out there wasn't too rich and full of rocks, but that hasn't deterred the people out there.

Once on a trip to England, a friend and I hired a car and driver and took a trip down to southwest England. We saw lots of wild flowers along the narrow road. Our young man who drove for us had a book describing the flowers we saw, so we got some education, too. The English people love their gardens. Everywhere we went, the homes all had lovely flowers decorating their yards.

Here are some of the books I have read recently — "Then Sings My Soul" by George Beverly Shea, published in 1968. It is a story of Shea's life and how Bill Graham's organization works and how it started. "Covenant" by Beverly Lewis, published in 2002, is a story about an Amish family. They have three daughters and the customs of dating and marriage are well described.

I'll tell you about "Rodanthe" next time. It is by Nicholas Sparks and is a southern romance.
