I would have chosen different winners
Well, the big Oscar show is finally over. I don't know why I should care. I only saw one of the movies nominated, "Seabiscuit." I was disappointed that it didn't win anything. I was hoping Diane Keaton would win an award too. She is one of our older stars and pretty cute.
I haven't decided about "The Passion of the Christ." It is hard enough to read about the crucifixion of Christ in the Bible. I don't know if I could take all that abuse and blood they show in the movie.
The Salina Journal questioned some of the movie-goers in Salina (two of which were my daughter, Mary and husband Bob) as to their all-time favorites. I don't know if I could choose just one. Of course, there is "Gone With the Wind."
The other night I watched some of the Ted Turner movies and saw "Kramer vs. Kramer" and "The Rain Man." Both were good movies with substance and something to think about.
Do you think movies influence our culture? I don't know what the newspapers and magazines and TV would do without the movies. Some of those stars' pictures are on dozens of magazines.
Did you hear about the little boy who took the Sports Illustrated magazine to school and got sent home?
The entertainment and sports world do provide lots of employment. Maybe it is our greatest industry. What do I know? I always have been a movie buff. Just wish I could see more — just the good ones.
