Ida Jean Butler
Ida Jean Butler, 90, died April 8, 2002, at Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cottonwood Falls.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral home. The Rev. John Hastings officiated.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Elmdale Cemetery.
The daughter of John and Mary Flowers Shaft, she was born March 21, 1912, in Clements. She and Leo Butler were married and lived at Ness City for more than 25 years before moving to Emporia and Strong City. He died in 1981.
Butler was a registered nurse who operated her own nursing home in Florence. She later owned and operated restaurants in Ness City.
She was a member of the former Elmdale Christian Church and American Legion Post #1890.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John Shaft, and one sister, Josephine Hammans.
