Irene Wilson

Irene R. Wilson, 87, of Kansas City, Mo., died Jan. 7, 2007, at John Knox Village Care Center..

Born Aug. 8, 1919, at Ramona, she was the daughter of Stanley and Elsie Hajek.

She was active in the Catholic church, serving in the altar and rosary society, and traveling on many church trips.

For the past four years, she lived at John Knox Village Care Center, but prior to that she enjoyed serving as treasurer for her Lindberg Building at John Knox.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who lived for her family and she will be dearly missed.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wilson; son, John Wilson; granddaughter, Tracie Wilson; and sister, Veronica Crist.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Hurt, Marilyn Armstrong, and Deborah Turner; and three sons, Dennis Wilson, Mark Wilson, and Ralph Wilson; brother, Martin Hajek of Tampa; sister, Lorraine Ward of Topeka; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew the Apostle, Kansas City, Mo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Matthew the Apostle Building Fund.
